Event Recap | 2nd Annual Chairlady’s Garden Party

Guests showcase their hats at the second annual Chairlady’s Garden Party at The Lincoln University.

Guests showcase their hats at the second annual Chairlady’s Garden Party at The Lincoln University.

More than 220 guests flooded the lawn at the historic Alumni House at Lincoln University on June 20, 2015 for the second annual Chairlady’s Garden Party. Board of Trustees Chairwoman Kimberly Lloyd ’94 hosted the event to benefit the university’s student scholarships.

Guests represented class years from the 1950s through current Lincoln students and members from several Alumni Association of Lincoln University chapters.

While the Chairlady’s Garden Party’s main purpose was to raise scholarship funds for students, the event also provided an opportunity for attendees to display sartorial southern charm. There was no shortage of ladies wearing hats, gloves and pearls nor men wearing seersucker and linen suits or cool breeze shirts and slacks. The Parade of Hats was a colorful and festive display of style and creativity.

Guests had the opportunity to visit a curated art exhibit of Zimbabwe Shona stone sculptures by Colin Thompson ’73 at the Ware Center on campus.

I am confident that with your help we will move our University to new levels of excellence.  In this regard, there are several things for which we need your support.
